Zoe-perry
Perry is she is Chicago native, born to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. In the ABC sitcom Roseanne (as seen by flashback) her mother portrayed Jackie Harris in two of Perry's early TV appearances. Perry did not decide to explore acting as a profession after reaching adulthood, as her parents were concerned about the adverse effects that stress could be a cause of. Perry stated that she was too shy to act in high school but began doing shows in the theater at Northwestern University as a way to make friends after transferring from Boston University. Perry was able to land small TV roles in Law & Order: Criminal Intent following her graduation. Homesickness, however, brought her to California again where she began to work on stage. She performed on Broadway with her mother in The Other Place with her mother in 2013. Perry was in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize winner Anna Christie, along with Kevin McKidd. This was performed at West Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre Ensemble. Perry played a lead role in nine episodes of the ABC drama The Family. Perry was a regular character in the ABC drama about politics Scandal, starring her dad. The character she played was a younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off episode from CBS's The Big Bang Theory was another younger portrayal of her mother. She was cast in the role despite having a close family connection to the character.
